Maycation!

So after a cold front through the Mid-Atlantic foiled our plans to soak up the sun in Ocean City, Maryland...the best husband in the world determined that we were going to FLORIDA!!! (During my too-short "summer break".)

Aaron had to go that way for a conference in Fort Myers that started the following Monday...so we took a little road trip several days early.  We left on Wednesday...stayed the night in South Carolina, and made it to Stuart by dinnertime :)

My parents were awesome hosts!  Mom even put mints on our pillows...something we didn't get at the Marriott! During our stay in Stuart, we were having so much fun at the beach, at the pool, on the boat, eating seafood, and hanging out with my family that we didn't manage take a single picture! (I should really be better about that...)

On Sunday we headed to Fort Myers for Aaron's Florida Supervisors of Elections conference.  It was our first time on that part gulf coast...what a pretty place.  We were pretty blessed to be staying at the place where we were...it was amazing!  And while Aaron worked...I worked, too...on my tan :)  (Actually, I wouldn't call it a tan...I would call it a "return to natural skin tone" post this crazy Virgina winter we had!)

And here are some of the pictures I managed to get...

The only parking spot left at Chick-Fil-A somewhere in Georgia.  Aaron's reply when I told him he shouldn't park there: "Just puff out your belly a little." hahaha
The shuttle Atlantis taking off for the LAST time.  Visible from our spot in Stuart (my hometown).
My toes where they belong in the summertime.  The beach in Fort Myers.   And Aaron and I spending some time at the beach on that BEAUTIFUL day!

Oh, and...if any of you Florida-dwellers are wondering what you're missing by living in the sunshine state, here it is.  Snowmaggedon 2010.  Goodbye snow...HELLO SUMMER!!

First time's a charm?

Hi All!  So this is my very first post on our new BLOG....this is what happens when grad school gives me a break and Aaron's flight from West Virginia delays our road trip to FLORIDA!!  So I just want to do a little practicing...and give you the added benefit of seeing a pic of the beautiful cherry blossoms that have since come and gone up here in Virginia and DC.  Here goes...

I did it!!  Well anywho...cheerio!  We will be seeing some of you soon!  And will certainly share that adventure when we get back.  (And before the workload of summer semester kicks in!)
